Budget Range
$10,000-18,000 buys an excellent first car. Focus on vehicles 3-6 years old with under 80,000km. Japanese and Korean brands offer the best reliability at this price point.
What to Avoid
Turbo engines (tempting to speed), high-powered vehicles (restricted on P-plates in WA), very old cars without modern safety features, and European vehicles with expensive maintenance.
Insurance for Young Drivers
