PPSR Check (Personal Property Securities Register)
The most critical check. For $2, you can verify whether the vehicle has money owing, has been written off, is reported stolen, or has been imported. Search at ppsr.gov.au.
Service History
A complete service history adds value and indicates the vehicle has been properly maintained. Look for regular services at recommended intervals, preferably with a brand dealer or reputable independent workshop.
REVS Check (Registration/Encumbrance)
Check the vehicle's registration status through the WA Department of Transport. Ensure the VIN on the registration matches the VIN plate on the vehicle.
WOVR (Written-Off Vehicle Register)
Included in the PPSR check. A statutory write-off can never be re-registered. A repairable write-off has been previously written off but repaired and cleared for re-registration — these vehicles often have structural issues.
Independent Mechanical Inspection
For private sales, invest $200-300 in a professional inspection by a qualified mechanic. They'll check for hidden issues, accident repairs, and mechanical problems that aren't obvious to untrained eyes.
At NORTH Motor
